Get to know your feet and their needs

Our feet! This little miracle of nature, the masterpiece of human engineering. They consist of 26 bones, dozens of muscles and ligaments that work together harmoniously, providing stability and flexibility. Thanks to them, we walk, run, dance, go up and down stairs — even stand on tiptoe or walk on a tightrope.

Yet, every foot is unique. Some are wider or thinner, some have a high arch (clubfoot) or none at all (flatfoot), others have bunions, bunions or hammertoes. All of these variations affect the mechanics of the foot and, consequently, the entire body. A “bad” shoe can significantly worsen problems, causing pain in the lower back, calves, heels, corns, sprains or even stress fractures.

The importance of choosing the right shoe

How much time do we really spend choosing the right shoe? Many of us buy based only on appearance or size, ignoring what's most important: fit and functionality.

Particularly in dance, the shoe is the "tool" that connects the body to the music.
As the experts say:

"Every dance is a revelation of ourselves."

To truly enjoy dancing, nothing should limit you. A comfortable, properly selected shoe protects you from blisters, abrasions and pain, while allowing you to express yourself freely.

Different dance – different needs

Each type of dance has its own requirements.
For example, hip-hop or street dancers need shoes with good shock absorption and a thick rubber sole, also suitable for outdoor surfaces such as concrete.
On the contrary, for Salsa, Latin or Tango , such a sole would create a problem — it "sticks" to the floor and makes turns difficult. There, a leather or suede sole is preferred, which allows smooth movements and slight gliding, although it wears out faster.

The material makes the difference

100% leather is always a great choice. It allows the foot to breathe, conforms to its shape, and provides support without pressure. A shoe with a leather lining, adjustable ankle strap, and a stable heel provides comfort and security — ideal for long hours of dancing or standing.

The insoles are equally important. Leather insoles allow the foot to come into natural contact with the material, absorb sweat and do not take up space inside the shoe. Thanks to the special soft latex sections in the heel, arch and metatarsals, they reduce vibrations and provide comfort to tired feet.
